Our God is so good and wonderful that I can hardly take it in sometimes.
I am amazed at how, even though the past weeks have been soooo very hard, He has been evident and made clear in my life through many different avenues.
I have noticed how much more fulfilling being in the Word is. It is quite literally the air I breathe, what gets me up in the morning and through my days. I have had to focus my heart and mind on His promises when everything else seemed so bleak and often too painful to have to bear or go through. So many times I wanted to give up, but because of hearing His Word, or reading it somewhere...I was able to press on...It was God pushing me forward!!! Praise Him!
One way that I have heard Him through these weeks and trials is through the past 4 sermons at church. Honestly...it has been some of the best preaching I have heard in quite a while and I haven't figured out if it is because I am SOOO thirsty for His Word or if it is because of the preachers talents God gave them (not that I want to discount their preaching ability at ALL).
But as I was sitting in L.D. Campbell's sermon on Saturday night, I realized, while a puddle formed on my lap from the tears that cleanse my soul so often lately, that it was that God's word is being spoken in such a real way...
I appreciate the pastors at my church so very much, that they are dedicated to God's word and not their own agenda being preached from the pulpit, that they are not up there with an ulterior motive to sway everyone to their way of thinking but to preach the Word of God and what HE wants us to learn and know.
So thank you Greg Marksberry for your latest series and thank you L.D. for this past week and for loving God above all, and being faithful to Him with the gifts He has blessed you with!
May all glory belong to God!

1 Peter 4 (part 2)
As I have mentioned, I am reading Living Water, by Brother Yun. It is phenomenal to see how literally one CAN live out a life completely dedicated to Christ in the modern world.
I see and hear others make excuses, and I make excuses myself, for living life the way I do. Life here is so easy and yet, it is difficult for us to stand up for Jesus Christ in our world. What are each of us doing to spread what Jesus did for us?
Are we sitting in our homes each evening, eating dinner, watching TV and saying that our job is how we spread Jesus' love, when in reality, we go to work, complain about the work we have to do while there, talk about people we work with or for, etc.
Is this how our lives should look?
The answer is a resounding NO!
I cannot claim that I am not guilty of that lifestyle though. I desire comfort...I am made of flesh. The call of the Gospel is to fight against flesh and to sacrifice our lives for Him.
"For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin. You won’t spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God." 1 Peter 4:1b-2
I want to be anxious to DO the will of God. When I put myself aside, and do the will of God...there is no better feeling. I love when I am working, with a JOYFUL heart and know without a doubt that I am supposed to be right there right then, serving God. I long for every moment to be filled with the knowledge that I am not letting HIM down in any way! I want to use my time, talents, and energy for Him and not for the things of this world that I think will fulfill me in some way.
Contrary to popular belief, we do not need more "down" time or relaxation. We need to make sure we are filling ourselves each day, through a relationship with HIM...and we need to take what He gives us and use it to HIS GLORY!
"Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen." 1 Peter 4:11
Lastly, when things are hard and we think that because it is hard, we aren't supposed to move forward...
THINK AGAIN!
When things are hard, that can be a sign that it is that much more important to complete and that Satan is against it!
We should be joyful during these trials...as hard as it is, this is the time we know, beyond anything, that we are where He wants us, growing, and working for His glory. It isn't about us at this point. It is about the ONE we SHOULD be living for. As soon as we give up and make it about us, we have failed...
"Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.
So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you."
1 Peter 4:12-13, 19

1 Peter 4
You know...in this case, I am just posting the Scripture I read today...more reflection to come later...
1 Peter 4
1 Peter 4
So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin. You won’t spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God. You have had enough in the past of the evil things that godless people enjoy—their immorality and lust, their feasting and drunkenness and wild parties, and their terrible worship of idols.
Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you. But remember that they will have to face God, who will judge everyone, both the living and the dead. That is why the Good News was preached to those who are now dead—so although they were destined to die like all people, they now live forever with God in the Spirit.
The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers. Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.
Suffering for Being a Christian
Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.
So be happy when you are insulted for being a Christian, for then the glorious Spirit of God rests upon you. If you suffer, however, it must not be for murder, stealing, making trouble, or prying into other people’s affairs. But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his name! For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News? And also,
“If the righteous are barely saved,
what will happen to godless sinners?”
So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you.

Drawing closer
Well, I have been counting on the fact that Romi and Armando, the boys Ryan takes care of in Romania, would get their visas to return with Ryan to the states this summer. The problem being, since he takes care of them, if they didn't get them then he wouldn't be able to return...
They had their meeting at the US Embassy early this morning in Bucharest and did not receive the visas...
I am disappointed...and a little sad that things aren't turning out the way I thought. But God has bigger and better plans and all I can do is wait on Him and His timing...
I am drawing closer to HIM and relying on Him today.
I pray that I remember to do this daily, when things are hard, or not. He wants relationship with me above all else and I need relationship with Him more than anything else...
I was encouraged by this Psalm today...
Chapter 34
1 [a] I will extol the LORD at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
2 My soul will boast in the LORD;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
3 Glorify the LORD with me;
let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.
5 Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.
6 This poor man called, and the LORD heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.
8 Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
9 Fear the LORD, you his saints,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
10 The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
11 Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12 Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,
13 keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from speaking lies.
14 Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their cry;
16 the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
19 A righteous man may have many troubles,
but the LORD delivers him from them all;
20 he protects all his bones,
not one of them will be broken.
21 Evil will slay the wicked;
the foes of the righteous will be condemned.
22 The LORD redeems his servants;
no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him.

Live Free
One of the people in this world, still living, that I admire most is Brother Yun.
He has a phenomenal story of how God's almighty power is still alive in the world today.
He has two books. One is about his life, The Heavenly Man, and the other is written by him, Living Water.
This man has undergone some of the most brutal persecution, in the name of Jesus, that I have heard of in modern day history.
I have no other words to say about him because I simply can't do him justice. But if you read his books, read his story first, then you will build a deep respect for him and where he has been, and appreciate his writings that much more!
That being said, I was reading Living Water tonight. In it he says:
Ohhhh my.
So many thoughts...what to say?
First and foremost...praise Jesus for his death on the cross which frees us!
Second, how many times I find myself bound by the things here! I am so guilty of putting shackles on myself when God has broken me free over and over again!
I tie myself to so many things, sin, addiction, work, shopping, looking good, feeling good about myself, people pleasing...the list could go on!
He goes on to say that even people who attend churches are prisoners...and I AGREE! We NEED to know and REALIZE the truth of Jesus. Not just one time but DAILY.
Well, while in prison, Brother Yun would praise Jesus at the top of his lungs. He said the guards thought he was crazy but the truth was, his heart and mind were set on the things that we ought to set our minds on!
He is like David, when David experienced dark moments he wrote things such as Psalm 34:1, 19-20:
I pray that we would each remember to live free lives through Jesus each day!

I came to realize that prison is mostly a state of mind rather than a physical place. I learned I can be chained inside a dire prison, surrounded by filth and violence, yet be completely free in my spirit.
Conversely, I have seen that many people's lives in the "free" world are bound and tormented.

Time for rest
I am taking time to rest today...my body is telling me to! I am feeling a little sick and SUPER tired...
I am reminded of Jesus.
His rest usually took place with His Father...In the garden, before the dawning of a new day...
I think I will try that today...not that I don't have time with Him, but to actually rest with Him...
I want to receive His blessing and I want to be energized in Spirit, not just physical strength...
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Matthew 11:28-30

People
This week in general has been tough.
I have learned so much about who I am and who God is and about how He is taking care of me even when I don't see it or feel it.
He has surrounded me with such fabulous people!
I have fabulous friends...and it is amazing because things happen in the lives of friends and relationships change, but that doesn't mean they're any less valuable. It just means they're different. God gives us what we need for where we are and that is just what He has been doing for me this week!
The people that I thought would be there for certain things weren't...now don't misunderstand me. I am not upset with them...it is simply different than I thought...at every bend in the road on my past week's journey, He has provided others when I need help...granted, the people weren't who I thought they were but they were there!
PRAISE THE LORD!
I love Him for being faithful and for following through in ways that are more than we expected...
By other people stepping in, it shows me just how many people are there and that care...
It was "immeasurably more" (Eph. 3:20-21) than I expected...
